Jordan Saints, MSc (FAFM) Financial Analysis and Fund Management

Why did you choose to study here?

The University of Exeter Business School is ranked among the top in the U.K. This together with the unique ability to study on a Master's programme so closely aligned with the CFA Program made Exeter a clear choice.

What did you enjoy most about studying here?

The campus facilities are modern and situated with picturesque views over Exeter. I also enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of the Firsts Teams at University of Exeter Sailing Club, competing in Team Racing and Match Racing out of Roadford Reservoir and around the U.K. The Club consistently ranks as one of the top university sailing clubs for BUCS.

What have you been doing since leaving Exeter, and what are you doing now?

Upon completion of my postgraduate degree at the University of Exeter I have started a career in the Investment Management industry. Joining an office of a medium sized international Investment Manager in Bermuda. I work in my current role as an Investment Analyst primarily working to identify undervalued investment opportunities in global equities that align with the investment strategies of the Company's funds.

How have your University of Exeter studies helped in your career?

The University of Exeter is a very well known institution. I believe that its recognition as a place of high quality study contributed to landing an interview. The Business Scool and my program also provided me with skills and knowledge that I use on a day to day basis at my current position.

Whether this includes use of the Bloomberg Terminal, analysis of financials using excel and VBA functions or simply the application of investment theories learnt during my programme, it is clear that my studies at the University of Exeter were particularly useful.

Do you have any advice for current students wishing to pursue your career?

I would advise getting industry experience as soon as possible. For a lot of firms having prior internships on your CV make you as a candidate more attractive and in addition to helping you to land a graduate job, will also help guide you to a career you are looking for.

What are your plans for the future?

Having completed my final CFA examination I plan to gain the necessary work experience to hopefully achieve the CFA designation. I hope to progress up the firm I work for and take on additional responsibilities in the future.
