LGBTQ+ Student Support

We want to make it as safe and easy as possible for you to bring your whole self to University, and be comfortable being who you are.

Please click through the headings below to find documents, resources, and information which will help to support you as an LGBTQ+ student at The University of Exeter. For additional queries or support, please contact the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team.

Students can access and update their personal information, including address details, preferred name, and pronouns, via the Student Records System. Updates will reflect across University systems within 24 hours. Information on how your name is displayed on University systems can be read on the Student Records website.

Students wishing to change their legal name or gender in line with the guidance on the Student Records website can contact the Student Administration Operations Manager in confidence. They will advise on the process, including any required documentation, and how your record will be managed and implications of making a change to your legal name. Students who change their legal name can request a new UniCard free of charge and may also discuss updating their University email address to reflect their corrected legal name.

The Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Team along with the LGBTQ+ Staff Network are currently developing a map of accessible and inclusive spaces at the University of Exeter, including a map of gender-inclusive facilities across our campuses.

Please keep an eye on this page for updates.
