In order to graduate, you must...

Registration for Summer Graduation 2019

Graduation registration will open on 25 March 2019. You will be sent an email asking you to complete registration. Registration will close on 12 May 2019. Failure to register by this date will mean that you will NOT be able to attend the ceremony and your award documents will be posted to your home address.

Students are required to request up to 2 complimentary tickets as part of their registration process. If any additional tickets are available, these will be sold through the Online Store from 3 June 2019. Further information can be found in the Additional Extras section below.

You will be asked if you or your guests have any accessibility requirements as part of your registration. Please be sure to provide these details when registering. If you need to request specific arrangements after you have completed registration, please contact SID

If you have an academic-related debt to the University you will be prevented from graduating. All outstanding balances must be cleared by 14 June 2019. You can make a payment online through the epay system. Alternatively, contact SID on 0300 555 0444 (UK callers) or +44 (0)1392 724724 (International callers).

You will be required to confirm the name that will appear on your award documentation and will be read out at the ceremony. These details must be the same and must match the information shown on your passport or similar identification documents (such as a driving licence or National Identity Card). If you need to amend the name that is currently on your student record system please visit the SID desk with your official identity documents by 14 June 2019. If you are unable to visit the desk you can email a CERTIFIED copy of your identity documents to SID before 14 June 2019.

Undergraduate Students: You must have been confirmed to be awarded a degree by the University Assessment, Progression and Award Committee in order to be eligible to attend the ceremony. Please check with your college once your results have been released if you are unsure if you are eligible to attend the ceremony.

Please Note: If you are taking referred or deferred assessments, you may still be eligible to attend the graduation ceremony. Your attendance will only be cancelled if you are confirmed as not eligible to graduate, and you will be informed by email if this is the case. If you have registered for the ceremony and are unsure if you are eligible to attend, please contact your college who will be able to confirm.

Postgraduate Taught Students: All those who have completed a PGCert, PGDip, or Master's-level qualification are eligible to attend a graduation ceremony. You must have been confirmed to be awarded a degree by the University Assessment, Progression and Award Committee in order to be eligible to attend the ceremony. Please check with your college once your results have been released if you are unsure if you are eligible to attend the ceremony.

Postgraduate Research Students: Your final thesis and completed examiners' report must be submitted by 12 June 2019. Those who submit the final thesis after this date will be invited to attend the Winter ceremony in 2019.

Please be aware that all graduands must wear full academic dress in order to graduate (gown, hood and cap). You can hire or buy your academic robes from Graduation Attire online at: www.exetergraduation.co.uk 

You can order your robes online from 25 March 2019. The deadline for ordering robes is 14 June 2019.

Please have the following details ready:

• Your Name, Date of Birth and student number

• Your height (from head to floor)

• Your head circumference (measure 1inch above your eyebrows)

• Your payment card

If your details are not recognised by the Graduation Attire site, please contact SID.

Please note: We have been notified of at least one company falsely claiming to offer a gowning service for the University of Exeter's graduation ceremonies. Please be aware that Graduation Attire is our sole supplier of academic dress for these events. Graduands are unable to purchase or hire gowns from other suppliers. Those not in correct academic dress will not be permitted to cross the stage.

Further information

As well as full academic dress, all graduands are required to wear smart clothes on the day of the ceremony. We kindly request that you do not wear jeans or trainers. 

Please wear appropriate footwear for walking up and down the stage steps.

Additional extras

Graduands can request up to 2 complimentary tickets as part of their graduation registration online. If capacity of the venue allows, extra guest tickets can be purchased through the online store at a charge of £15 each. To avoid server overload, tickets will be released at staggered times between Monday 3rd June and Tuesday 11th June 2019 as follows:

An email advising when tickets are available to purchase will be sent to graduands containing a link to the online store. Tickets can only be purchased through the link that will be sent to graduands.

Due to limited capacity, and to maintain fairness, extra tickets are limited to 2 per graduand. There will be a waiting list in operation if you require more tickets than this. Please contact SID to be added to this waiting list.

Please note that creating multiple Online Store accounts in order to purchase additional tickets is not permitted. Ticket purchases over and above the two-ticket limit will be refunded to allow students on the waiting list to purchase additional tickets for high-demand ceremonies.

Tickets will be available online until 30 June 2019 or when tickets are sold out (whichever comes first). If there are additional tickets available after this time, they will be available to purchase from SID. Please call 0300 555 0444 (for UK callers) or +44 1392 724724 (for international callers).

Please be advised that tickets are non-transferrable. Purchased tickets that are no longer required can be refunded until 30 June 2019. Please contact the SID desk to advise of unwanted tickets.

Guests without tickets 

Exeter

If there are any available tickets on the day for ceremonies taking place in Exeter, they will be sold at the SID desk in the Forum. Additional tickets are £15 each.

Guests who cannot purchase or do not have tickets for the ceremony can watch the event live via web streaming in the Forum Alumni Auditorium. You do not need a ticket to watch the ceremony via the live web stream.

The ceremonies will also be live streamed on our watch the ceremonies page.

Cornwall

If there are any available tickets on the day for ceremonies taking place in Cornwall, they will be sold at the Information Desk in the Exchange Building.  Additional tickets are £15 each.

Guests who cannot purchase or do not have tickets for the ceremony can watch the event live via web streaming in the Chapel Lecture Theater.  You do not need a ticket to watch the ceremony via the live web stream.

Tempest Photography is the official photographer for the University of Exeter graduation ceremonies.

They will be operating multiple studios on graduation day.  These will be open from 7.00am until 5.30pm each day. You can visit them at any time during the day, though we recommend that you visit in the morning to avoid lengthy waiting times.

You do not order in advance of the ceremonies. Instant proofs will be given to you in the studio when your photographs are taken, enabling you to select your favourites and to place your order either at the sales desk or afterwards via the website or by post / telephone.  All packs ordered on the day will receive free wallet and mini prints with your order.

Presentation and Group Photographs

Tempest Photography will also be on hand to capture the moment you cross the stage and are awarded your degree.  These images will be available to view immediately after your ceremony and prints can be purchased to take away on the day.

Alternatively visit www.tempest-events.co.uk, allowing 7 days after your event to order your Presentation Photograph.

Tempest will also be taking group photographs after each ceremony. These photographs will be available to view and order in the same area as the on-stage photographs.

DVDs of the graduation ceremonies can be purchased from Tempest Photography on the day of your ceremony.

Merchandise

The University of Exeter 2019 Yearbook

The Exeter Alumni team are once again working with GradFinale to create the University of Exeter 2019 Yearbook. If you have not yet started your yearbook page, please visit https://www.gradfinale.co.uk/static/register to get started. 

To pre-order your yearbook from GradFinale please visit https://www.gradfinale.co.uk/basket. All pre-ordered Yearbooks will be available on your graduation day.

Please note that you will not appear in the Yearbook unless you have completed a profile on GradFinale. Further information

If you would like your friends or family to attend your graduation or just to visit you in the UK, they may need to apply for Visitor visas. You will need to send them documentation confirming your current study and immigration status and there are a number of documents that they will need to prepare. You can print your graduation invite letter by logging into your student record and choosing the option of 'self service letters' or you can request a letter from us at the SID desk.

If you or any of your guests have any accessibility requirements such as special seating arrangements at the ceremony or a disabled parking space, please provide details when completing the online registration task outlined in your invitation email. 

If you did not request a disabled parking space as part of your registration, please email sid@exeter.ac.uk to request one. 

If you have any queries about the arrangements or need further information, please contact the SID team at sid@exeter.ac.uk.

Your award documentation (your official transcript and certificate) can only be issued after the official date of your award, which is after you have received your results. Before this date you can obtain an interim transcript from SID or via the 'Your results' page in the Student Record System, accessible through iExeter.

If your award is conferred well in advance of the ceremony, your award documents will be posted to your home address in advance of the ceremony and you will be emailed to notify you of this. Receiving your award documents prior to the ceremony does not affect your eligibility to attend the ceremony. 

Other award documents (subject to successful completion) will be issued at the graduation ceremony.

If you have advised you are not attending the ceremony your documents will be posted to your HOME ADDRESS by 8 July 2019. You must ensure your home address in the Student Record system is correct before 21 June 2019.

By default documents are sent via standard royal mail postal service – please note this does not offer tracking information.

If your documents are to be posted to an address outside the UK we strongly advise that you order DHL courier delivery at an additional cost to ensure safe receipt of your documents. All DHL orders must be placed before 21 June 2019. Orders received after this date will be refunded and documents will be sent by standard non tracked mail.

Should you require any additional free award confirmation letter(s) prior to 8 July, they can be printed through the iExeter student record system or requested directly from the SID Desk:

Additional copies of your transcript and certificate

Additional copies of your transcript and certificate can be requested once you have been awarded via the online store. Please note that any extra documents ordered will be sent via separate mail and will not be included with those issued at your graduation ceremony.

 

Changing your ceremony

Under normal circumstances, due to large numbers of guests and students attending our ceremonies we are unable to accommodate requests to attend graduation at a different time of the year.

For any changes to your ceremony date due to exceptional circumstances, these will need to be considered by the graduation team on a case-by-case basis. Please email sid@exeter.ac.uk.

If you are doing a combined subject degree and wish to graduate with your other subject please contact sid@exeter.ac.uk, where requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Award documentation

If you have not registered your attendance, or you have advised that you will not be attending your award documents will be posted to your Home address on 8 July 2019

You must ensure your home address in the Student Record system is correct before 21 June 2019.

If your documents have not been received within 21 working days of being sent and you have ensured the delivery address was correct we can arrange for a free replacement.

Failure to update/confirm your home address will require you to order replacement documents at a charge. Replacement documents can be ordered via the online store.

Failure to advise of non delivery by 18 August 2019 will require you to order replacement documents at a charge. Replacement documents can be ordered via the online store
