One Planet MBA - information for Offer Holders

Dear Class of 2027

Many congratulations on securing your place on the One Planet MBA at Exeter this coming year. I am delighted that you have chosen to join us. You will be joining the Class of 2026/27, made up of smart, engaged and ambitious professionals, each wishing to play their part in tackling some of the most pressing global challenges we face. Our new branding as the One Planet MBA enhances our work to inspire tomorrow’s leaders for a better world.

Despite receiving hundreds of applications for places on the One Planet MBA programme, we personally review every application and interview candidates for the few places available. My criteria (in addition to skills and experience) are your motivation for joining the programme, your values, and what I feel you will bring to the overall cohort experience. We are proud of our cohort’s diversity in thought and perspective, as well as gender, nationality and sector expertise. You will be joining a select and challenging cohort. It is exciting that you can expect to learn as much from your peers as from faculty.

Registration

Registration is the process by which you agree to the University’s current regulations. It is a requirement for all students to complete registration at the start of your studies, and for most students this takes place online in the Student Record System (SRS).

How do I access my University IT account?
A University IT account will be given to all offer holders and your Welcome email will explain how to activate it. Any returning students will already have access.

How do I register for the One Planet MBA programme?
...before you can register online, you will need to activate your University IT account.

All students will receive a notification telling them when they need to register:
- All New Students, you will receive this notification in your Welcome email from Admissions.
- New international students, usually you cannot complete University registration until you have completed International Student Clearance, as detailed in your Welcome email from Admissions.

How do I access online registration?
...before you can register online, you will need to activate your University IT account.

Log in to the Student Record System using your short username and password. If you have been cleared to register you will see a red box 'Welcome to online registration'. Click on the 'REGISTER NOW' link to enter the online registration pages. If you don't see the red box, you will need to activate your University IT account (see your Welcome email).

How do I pay my fees?
All fee payments (tuition, tuition deposit, accommodation and other miscellaneous charges) should be paid online via Credit/Debit card or by International Bank Transfer. To pay, please go to the Make a Payment web page.

When will I get my timetable?
When you have enrolled onto the programme you will have access to your timetable.

How do I get to Exeter?
If you are flying into the UK from overseas, you will be flying into London Heathrow or London Gatwick.  Details of how to organise your travel to Exeter can be found here: Planning your travel to the University 

What are the MBA University Term Dates?
MBA Term 1: 14 September 2026 to 11 December 2026
MBA Term 2: 4 January 2027 to 25 March 2027
MBA Term 3: 12 April 2027 to 25 June 2027

We provide generous study breaks between terms, and we expect all students to attend all classes throughout each term.

Induction programme overview

The full time One Planet MBA will be starting on Monday 14 September 2026 with our MBA Induction programme, which is designed to help you prepare for the demanding year ahead.   

The induction programme is an important introduction to your course and everyone will be expected to attend. It will act as a welcome to the MBA, the University, Exeter and (in some cases) the UK. It will be a time to get to know your fellow students and members of staff and will include sessions on Careers and key study skills, as well as a visit to a local organisation with links to key Environmental, Social, and Governance goals (ESG).

You will need to register your place on the programme to gain your username and password and access the material.  Online registration will open in August 2026, and International Students will be able to register following document clearance on arrival at the University.  Details of how to register and activate your IT account will be sent in your Welcome email. See also Registration and Enrolment section above.  If, for any reason, you are unable to register on the programme before registration closes, please advise us as soon as possible.

Throughout the induction period you will be introduced to the academic requirements of the programme, be invited to build relationships with fellow MBA participants and faculty, and refresh your writing, reasoning, and study skills while beginning the process of acclimatisation for MBA studies.

We ask students to complete a short survey before we start to learn a little more about you before you arrive, and this will be sent out during the summer.

Am I required to be on campus for the two-week induction programme?
Yes. It is advisable to be on campus for the duration of the Induction Programme. 

When will I see the Induction Programme timetable?
You will receive a copy of the Induction Programme timetable after you register and return your survey.

How can I prepare for my course?
1. Take a look at the Preliminary MBA reading list tab below for ideas.

2. You will also find key information in the New Students Guide.

3. There is some useful information to help you prepare for living and studying in Exeter including how to apply for your Unicard, registering with a student healthcare centre, contacting the Wellbeing team (if necessary), opening up a new bank account and paying your fees.

What books will I need to purchase?
You may like to buy some of the core texts (see Preliminary Reading List), but most of the books you will need are available to borrow and view electronically from the University Library.  We also have a number of copies of core texts available for use in the MBA library.  If you want to buy your own books, you may find second-hand copies for sale at much lower prices - for example from AbeBooks: http://www.abebooks.co.uk/books/Textbooks/.

This reading list will give you an introduction to the three main areas at the core of this MBA - Sustainability, Leadership and Technology - and will enable you to start preparing for your course.  You will be provided with further reading for the core modules as your MBA progresses.  

There’s no expectation that you will read all these texts before arrival, but please try to look at some, particularly in topic areas you are less familiar with.

All of the publications mentioned will be available as e-books from the main library or can be easily purchased through standard book sellers provided to you on your modules.  

We also advise that you familiarise yourself with contemporary business publications such as The Economist, The Harvard Business Review and quality business newspapers (Financial Times or Washington Post). In addition to ensuring that you have a good insight on what is happening in the word of business, you will also become more familiar and confident with business (English) language. 

Software

During the MBA programme you will be required to access and use a number of software applications, including MS Excel, which will be particularly relevant for the Data and Analytics module. You will therefore need to have installed on your laptop/MAC/PC the latest version of Microsoft Office. As a registered student of the University of Exeter you can download a copy of MS Office free of charge. Please use this link to download a free copy, please note that you will need your IT username and password.

Hardware

In terms of hardware, we recommend using a laptop equipped with a video camera and sound, an iPad or tablet and headphones with a microphone.

IT Support

Once you register as a student, you will have access to IT support - this includes online and face to face support with the Digital Hub. We can give you advice about this after you arrive. 

University accommodation

You can apply for accommodation via the online portal.  Please see details including key dates here - University accommodation. 

Our website provides lots of information about how and when to apply and how we allocate rooms. 

There is limited couple or family accommodation; first-round applications have closed, but there may be a waiting list to join if you are interested. The contract for these flats starts on Sunday 13 September 2026, so if you should arrive before this date, you will need to find alternative accommodation until the contract starts.

If your University accommodation application is unsuccessful, you will need to look for private accommodation outside of the University, but your details will be kept on a waiting list and you will be offered accommodation if a vacancy arises at a later date.

Please note that you will need to have met all the conditions of your offer and paid your deposit before you can book accommodation.  The University guarantees to make all International Postgraduate students an offer of accommodation within University owned, managed or approved residences provided you book your accommodation by the guarantee deadline of 31 July 2026.

Your timetable will be available by the start of the programme, and you will be busy from Induction to the final Consultancy Project Presentations! Please note that the MBA programme does not follow the standard University term dates. Please also note that you should not expect to take holidays during the term, as you would miss vital teaching sessions.

Commitment to Sustainability Goals

The One Planet MBA is fully committed to alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. More than half the taught hours across the whole programme reflect Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) responsibility.  Over 90% of your Consultancy Projects cover aspects of ESG. In addition, the programme is offering students accreditation both of ISEP (Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals) and of Future-Fit. Students also participate in the Local Community Impact Challenge, Global Sustainability Challenge, International Business Week, and Boardroom Dynamics.
