Amy Lloyd-Foster
Sarah is the Institute Manager for the Environment and Sustainability Institute, based on the University of Exeter's Penryn campus. Her role provides strategic research support and professional services leadership for the ESI community. She has worked at the University since 2006 in a variety of roles covering research and knowledge transfer, predominantly focused on life sciences. She has an undergraduate degree in Oceanography from the University of Southampton and a master’s degree in Biodiversity and Conservation from the University of Exeter.
Claire Caffrey
I am currently an Assistant Laboratory Manager at the University of Exeter in the ESI, with extensive experience in laboratory operations, health and safety, and equipment maintenance. My background includes a career change from community finance to science, reflecting a strong passion for scientific research and hands-on lab work.
In my role, I manage and maintain a wide range of lab equipment, implement maintenance schedules, and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols. I supervise and train students and colleagues on lab procedures, equipment use, and safety practices. I regularly support lab managers with audits, inductions, and troubleshooting.
My organisational skills are reflected in my management of lab administration, including equipment servicing, purchasing, inventory tracking, and budgeting. I have developed systems to streamline operations using platforms such as T1, Labcup, and Clustermarket.
I hold a Level 3 Applied Science qualification and have conducted independent research into the dietary effects of Gryllodes sigillatus. I thrive on learning new procedures, working independently, and contributing to team success.
With a proactive approach and strong problem-solving skills, I am committed to maintaining high standards and supporting lab operations. I am keen to contribute further to the University of Exeter’s research environment and always open to new opportunities.
Amy Lloyd-Foster
Amy is the Senior Administrator at the Environment and Sustainability Institute, based at the University of Exeter’s Penryn campus. She provides operational support across the Institute, working closely with academic and professional services colleagues to enable the smooth running of ESI activities. Since joining the University in 2019 as part of the Graduate Business Partnership scheme, she has held a variety of roles supporting academic teams and research projects. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Exeter.

Amrita Sharma
ESI Communications Lead: Amrita manages the ESI communications: website, social media, graphics, newsletters, distribution lists and assisting with event organisation.
PA to the ESI Director: She is the first point of contact for all internal and external enquiries to the Director and deals with the Director’s calendar, travel and hospitality.
Amrita is a member of Faculty Operations under Education and Academic Services,
She did her undergraduate from the College of Arts and Crafts, Lucknow University, India and her postgraduate degree in Communication Studies from the College of New Rochelle, New York.
