PDR Reviewer Training for Reviewers of Research Staff

About this course:

A great PDR is to do with the quality of the conversation! The workshop will not cover the forms and process in any detail so please acquaint yourself with these before the workshop.

Instead we will explore the purpose of the PDR and how to emloy coaching style of review.

It also considers the role of the PDR within the wider performance management context and explores the reviewer's role in providing career guidance to research staff at all stages of their career.

This course is mandatory for all staff who will conduct PDRs and is most effective if completed a few months before PDRs are planned.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Understand the purpose of PDRs.

- Get the best out of a PDR.

- Understand researcher role profiles, the research career path and the role of Vitae.

- Know the PDR process.

- Adopt a coaching style and deploy the GROW model: Goals, Reality, Options, Wrap-up.

Who should attend this course:

Staff who review research staff (using the research staff PDR form).
