Web Accessibility Training

Web accessibility training for University of Exeter web editors

Overview

Helping to create a socially just future, through our education and research, is part of the University's purpose as outlined in its Strategy 2030.

An integral feature of this vision is making our websites as accessible as possible. This activity will be steered by regulatory requirements, supplemented by other recognised forms of best practice, and informed by user feedback.

Web accessibility is primarily the process of creating web content so that it's accessible to people with disabilities. However, web accessibility – in some form – can help everyone who accesses web content. To learn how this is the case, see 'what is web accessibility?'.

Not sure where to start?

If you're new to web accessibility, or to working with it on the University websites, it can be hard to know where to start. Essentially, this will depend on your role(s). See the web accessibility starting point for more information.

The purpose of this site

This site will provide and signpost training materials for those involved in the creation and editing of University web content, so you can understand why the content needs to be managed in an accessible way, and develop the practical skills to do so.

The status of this site

This new site is a work in progress.

Further training materials and signposting will be added over the coming months as the site develops. Notifications of new training content will be included in the Weekly Bulletin, and by email to users of relevant platforms.

If you have a web accessibility editing query about content not yet covered on this site, please see our older web accessibility site or contact the relevant technical team.
