Naming a webpage

Advisory

The information on this page is only applicable if you're editing the University webpages using T4. It presumes that you have already completed the beginners and advanced level of the T4 training (a link for staff only - opens in new window).

Introduction

There are several ways in which a webpage is named, labelled or referred to. In our T4 pages, there are two page naming elements to consider: the h1 heading and the section name.

The names you choose for these will work more effectively if you understand the purposes of each one.

If this topic is new to you, it's recommended that you read through the material listed under Contents, in order.

If you're familiar with this topic, you can refer to the contents below for reminders or, if you have a specific query, you may find the page 'technical terms explained and frequently asked questions' more helpful.
