The section name: navigation links to your page
Advisory
Technical Terms
Before you begin, there are some terms that you'll find useful to understand.
Breadcrumbs
The breadcrumbs are the links above the page text, listed in a row, that describe the hierarchical position of the page within the website.
For example, on this page the breadcrumbs are in the line, above the h1 heading, that reads: 'Web accessibility training / Foundation level / Naming a webpage / The section name / Navigation links'.
They show the path to your page, like the breadcrumbs in the story of Hansel and Gretel, hence the name. Every item in that line is the name of a T4 section. They are also all clickable links, with the exception of the final one (i.e. the page you're already on).
Parent and Child / Subpage
A parent section is the section that exists one level up from your current section.
Example
In the navigation and breadcrumbs, the page (section) that you're currently reading is called 'Navigation links'. Its parent section is called 'The section name'.
'Navigation links' is one of the three child sections or subpages of 'The section name', the others being 'The web address (URL) of your page' and 'Accessible h1 headings'.
'Navigation links' is, in turn, the parent of the sections 'Overvew', 'Visible and hidden sections' and 'Link sections'.
