Working with PDFs

Creating a PDF from a Word Document

  1. When you export to PDF, choose one of the following methods:
    • Method 1 (use this if you have Adobe Acrobat Pro installed)
      1. File
      2. Save as Adobe PDF
        or
      3. Export and then Create Adobe PDF.
    • Method 2 (if you don't have Adobe Acrobat Pro installed)
      1. File
      2. Save As for a new Word document or Save A Copy for an existing Word document
      3. Where it says 'Word Document (*.docx)', select .pdf from the drop-down list of format options.

Do not use the following methods

These methods do not produce reliably accessible PDFs.

Incorrect method 1

  1. File
  2. Export.
  3. Select Create PDF/XPS Document.

Incorrect method 2

  1. Print
  2. Adobe PDF.
