Third-party content types that can be used in T4 webpages
Some types of web content are created using a third-party application and then uploaded to T4 or embedded within T4 webpages. Here 'third party' means an application that is not part of T4. For example, a document may be uploaded to T4, but it was not created using T4.
The following file types are uploaded to T4 and then linked to from a webpage:
- Word documents
- Excel spreadsheets
- PowerPoint presentations
- PDF files
- Text files
- EXE files
Images are uploaded to T4 and then embedded within a webpage.
Other types of content are not uploaded to T4, but may be embedded from an external source using special templates:
- Audio
- Videos
- Social media feeds
- Blog feeds
- Chatbots
- Database feeds or 'widgets' (for example, displaying course data)
Most forms are created using Microsoft Forms. These are not uploaded to T4 or embedded within a T4 webpage, but are created externally to T4 and then linked to. The few special forms that are embedded in webpages are only created by the web team.
Guidance on correct use of applications for these various types of web content, and how to upload or embed them, will be included in the training.
If you are intending to upload or embed any other type of content on your T4 website, it is very important that you email the web team via digitalteam@exeter.ac.uk before doing so.
