Graduation

Registration and tickets

Graduation registration

When registration opens, you will receive an invitation email during the week with your ceremony details and a link to register.

To attend your ceremony, you must register online through the Student Record System by the deadline in your invitation email. See dates and deadlines page for the date registration closes.

Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email. Please check your junk folder and contact us if you do not receive it. Your registration details will also appear in the Student Record System (via MyExeter). Please check both the confirmation email and the system to make sure all details are correct.

If you do not receive the confirmation email, or if your details are incorrect in the Student Record System, please submit an enquiry in SID Online using the category “Graduation Registration” before the registration deadline.

We cannot fix issues reported after the deadline.

Changing your Ceremony

Unfortunately, due to the number of students expected to graduate, we are unable to accommodate any ceremony transfer requests within the summer graduation period. This includes anyone doing Flexible Combined Honours/Combined Honours courses.

Transferring to a future Graduation session

Due to the high number of eligible students in each graduation session, requests to attend a ceremony at a different time of year cannot normally be accommodated. If exceptional circumstances prevent you from attending your assigned ceremony, you may submit a request for a future session via SID Online under “Ceremony Session Transfer.”

Requests are assessed individually and are subject to capacity. Approval cannot be guaranteed, and outcomes cannot be confirmed before your originally allocated ceremony.

This is due to the annual planning cycle. Winter ceremonies are scheduled in late August and Summer ceremonies in early February. Therefore, Winter graduates requesting a transfer to a summer session will not receive confirmation until the following February and Summer graduates requesting a transfer to a winter session will not receive confirmation until September.  Please be aware that if you do not attend your assigned ceremony, you may lose the opportunity to graduate in person.

Complimentary tickets for guests

Complimentary tickets must be booked through FIXR by the graduand.

Each graduand may secure two complimentary tickets using a unique promo code. Once registration has closed, the Graduation Team will email your individual promo code along with a direct link to your ceremony’s ticket page on FIXR. Please double check you are purchasing for the ceremony you have been invited to attend.

You will be allocated seating either on the Ground Floor or the Balcony. Both areas are within the same venue and provide a clear view of the stage. Please note that guest seating is unreserved unless specific accessible arrangements have been made with the Graduation Team.

All graduands may book up to two complimentary tickets before the stated deadline. Additional tickets may be released later, subject to venue capacity. You will be notified by email in advance if further tickets become available.

Please be aware that you must log in to FIXR and secure your tickets yourself; the Graduation Team cannot do this on your behalf.

You must book your tickets by the deadline of Friday 19 June, if you do not book your complimentary tickets by Friday 19 June you may have to pay for any tickets after these dates, if available.

Additional tickets for guests

Additional purchasable tickets are released in two allocations.

When complimentary tickets become available, there may also be an opportunity to purchase a limited number of additional allocated tickets. This first allocation of additional tickets will require the same promo code as complimentary tickets to unlock them.

Once the complimentary ticket deadline has passed, our team will assess the remaining venue capacity and reopen ticket sales for the second allocation. Tickets for any ceremony with remaining availability will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

Additional tickets are priced at £20 each, plus a small booking fee.

Guests without tickets

Guests who do not have tickets for the ceremony can watch the event live via web streaming in the Forum Alumni Auditorium in Streatham, or in the Stannary Bar in Penryn. You do not need a ticket to watch the ceremony via the live web stream.  There is no limit to the number of guests who can watch the livestream in person or online.

Graduand tickets

The graduand’s ticket pack will be emailed to you approximately 7 days before the ceremony. We recommend that you  do not print the ticket packs but have them available for viewing on an electronic device. This will save on the usage of paper and reduce the need to handle documents by hand on the day.

Graduands and guests will enter via different entrances to the Great Hall, Streatham and the Ceremony Hall, Penryn, so please ensure your guests have access to their tickets to gain entry to the ceremony.

Children

Children are welcome to attend graduation celebrations, however due to the length of the ceremony and the formal nature of the event we do not recommend that young children are brought into the Great Hall, Streatham or the Ceremony Hall, Penryn for the ceremony. Many guests with children prefer to watch the event via the live stream in one of our on-campus locations. A separate guest ticket is required for any child over the age of two who would like to watch the ceremony in the Great Hall, Streatham or the ceremony hall, Penryn.

Please note that we are not able to accommodate pushchairs or buggies in the Great Hall or the Ceremony Hall.
