Each programme within our department is led by a Programme Director, whose role it is to oversee the running of the programme. In addition, the Directors of Education and Student Experience (DESE) have overall responsibility for all the programmes and modules within Biosciences.

Programme Director for MSc/MRes Advanced Biological Sciences and MSc Advanced Biological Sciences & Business: Dr. Alison Hill
Programme Director for MRes Immunology: Prof. William Horsnell

Most of your contact with academic staff will be through either your personal tutor, who will provide academic and pastoral support, or other academic members of staff teaching you on modules. However, if you encounter any significant difficulties with your studies or your wellbeing, the relevant Programme Directors and/or DESE can work with you to resolve these.

The Peter Chalk Info Point, located within the Peter Chalk/Newman Buildings (adjacent to the Geoffrey Pope building), is the place to go for any questions you may have about your life as an Exeter student. From queries about your course or timetable, to advice on wellbeing or mitigating circumstances, the team at the info point will give you the support you need quickly and efficiently.

Getting started in Psychology

Welcome day: Thursday 18th September

On Thursday 18th September 2025 from 13:00-16:00 you will have some scheduled induction meetings to get to know the department.

The purpose of academic induction is to introduce you to your academic programme, complete any necessary pre-registration tasks, and meet fellow students and academic staff.

Please note that event times and locations are subject to change - please  check your timetable in MyExeter for the most up-to-date information and to access online events.

Your Timetable

Your detailed personal timetable will be available to view and download in MyExeter from 15 September. Teaching commences on Monday 22nd September 2025.

All timetabling is organised centrally by the Timetable Team. Students with timetabling queries should use the timetabling enquiry form in SID and search for category 'Timetabling'.

During the first two weeks of each term, timetabling staff are also available in-person at the Hub info points to discuss any timetabling issues, Monday to Friday, 10-12 and 2-4 PM.

For further information about your timetable, please see the timetabling webpages.

Additional information for MSc Conversion (Psychology) Students

It is very important for this programme that you are ready to start your studies on Monday, 22nd September, as the content progresses quickly, particularly in statistics and biological psychology, making it difficult to catch up on, and any students starting late will miss out on some of the support sessions. If you have any concerns about this, please contact us by email: info.peterchalk@ex.ac.uk or telephone: +44 (0)1392 723788

On this programme, you will also take some modules in the Graduate School of Education, part of the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences - please also familiarise yourself with the Faculty webpages at Our departments | Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences | University of Exeter
