Venice International University
Since 2019, the University of Exeter has been a member of the Venice International University (VIU) Consortium, giving students the chance to study on San Servolo island in Venice.
Through VIU’s Globalisation Program, Exeter students can spend a semester, year, or summer session exploring themes of sustainability, innovation, and globalisation alongside peers from across VIU's network of 22 international member universities. Courses are taught in English by visiting professors and cover perspectives from science, the humanities, and social sciences, with options for specialised study to explore specific global challenges.
Exeter academics have contributed to teaching on topics such as Tropical Medicine, Multilingual Cities, Climate Change Communication, and Feminist Global Governance.
By joining VIU, students gain global perspectives, intercultural experience, and skills for international careers - supporting Exeter’s vision for a greener, healthier, fairer future.
