Summary:
The level two module, BSD2002 Career Management Skills for 'With Industrial Experience' students is a non-credit bearing module that aims to help students on 'with Industrial Experience' programmes prepare for the placement year that will take place in third year of their degree. The module aims to assist students in their job/placement search and to provide a general preparation for successful participation in the workforce.

Internationalisation
Students can undertake their work placement in the UK or in any of the European Union countries and associate countries that participate in the Erasmus+ programme. Other countries will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
External Engagement
You will engage with leading graduate employers as part of optional events made available via the Business School Careers Team.

Syllabus plan
5 x timetabled 1 hour sessions, of which:
4 compulsory 1 hour lecture sessions:
- Year 2 Securing your Placement – Review of expectations/responsibilities during the placement search and placement approval process (including how to seek approval for a placement, health and safety and risk assessment)
- Health and Safety & what to do when you secure a placement
- Professionalism in the Workplace: Ethics and Culture
- Reflective Assignment techniques
1 X compulsory timetabled 2 hour pre-placement briefing session: The Placement Year – Student Responsibilities and Assessment Requirements
1 x compulsory 2 hour assessment centre workshop

There are also a range of optional extra-curricular careers fairs, employer presentations, skills sessions, mock interviews, alongside the ‘How to…’ skills sessions and YES pages (ex.ac.uk/yes)
1-1 appointments and careers cafe drop-ins available with Employability Advisers throughout the year to review student progress in securing an industrial placement and advise on CV, Applications and LinkedIn.

Re-assessment notes
This module is not formally assessed and does not bear any credits, however it is possible to fail this module. Students are required to attend all compulsory sessions and complete the formative assignment. Those students who fail to meet the requirements of the course without due cause will be transferred back to the three year degree.
