• The Procurement Team have been working with Exeter City Council and have achieved ‘Premier Status’ on their Green Accord accreditation scheme. We are encouraging suppliers to adopt a similar stance with supportive questioning in template tender documents to enshrine principles and practice of environmental sustainability within procurement processes.

  • In November 2012, the University hosted the first Sustainable Supplier Showcase event where suppliers and partner organisations showcased  how they are reducing their carbon emissions and supporting employability, the surrounding community and the University’s sustainability agenda.

  • The Procurement Team have updated the Sustainable Procurement Policy to reflect the views of the Students’ Guild Society, Be The Change, who have been campaigning for a ‘conflict- free campus’ through ‘Project Congo’. The society has been campaigning to reduce the use of IT and electronics across the University that contain conflict minerals sourced from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The University has chosen to support this and aim to ‘reduce the use of conflict minerals by encouraging IT and electronics suppliers to ensure conflict-free supply chains’.
