When can I apply and when will I hear?

The drop down boxes below show all application types, when you can apply for accommodation and when you will be contacted about your application. The residences available to you will depend on the type of application you make.

We recommend that you review our current terms and conditions prior to receiving a contract.

Please note: Under current circumstances all dates quoted below are subject to change. It may also take longer than normal to process your application.

New applicants applying before the guarantee deadline

Applicant Type	Applicant description	When can I apply?*	When will I hear?
New Undergraduate	Any applicant starting with us in September studying for their first degree.	3 April 2023	If your offer status is Unconditional Firm (UF) prior to August your application will be processed from May onwards and an accommodation offer and contract will be sent to you between July and early September. If your offer status becomes UF in August we will send you an accommodation offer and contract by early September.
New Postgraduate	Any applicant starting with us in September as a postgraduate student. This applicant type includes PhD students.	3 April 2023	We will consider applications from late April onwards and send an accommodation offer and contract between May and September.
New Full Year Exchange Student	Any applicant starting with us in September who will be on a full year Study Abroad or International Exchange programme.	3 April 2023	If your offer status is Unconditional Firm (UF) prior to August your application will be processed from May onwards and an accommodation offer and contract will be sent to you between July and early September. If your offer status becomes UF in August we will send you an accommodation offer and contract by early September.
Couple Application	Any applicant who requires accommodation for themselves and their partner who may or may not be a student.	3 April 2023	We will consider your application from late April onwards and send you an accommodation offer and contract between June and September.
Semester 1 Exchange students	Any applicant starting with us in September who will be studying for semester one (September - January) on a Study Abroad or International Exchange programme.	3 April 2023	By early June. Applications are dealt with in date order of receipt.

New applicants applying after the guarantee deadline

Semester 2 applicants

Semester 2 International Exchange students	Any applicant starting with us in January who will be studying for semester two (January - June) on a Study Abroad or International Exchange programme.	Monday 7 November 2022	From week commencing 21 November 2022 onwards. All applications are dealt with in order of receipt and offers of accommodation are subject to availability.

Current students

Returning applications for Current Undergraduate/Postgraduate students (non-supported)	Any student who is currently enrolled as an undergraduate or postgraduate at the University of Exeter	14 February 2023 for the next academic year. Applications are dealt with in date order.	For the next academic year - by 17 March 2023
Medically-supported returning applications for Current Undergraduate/Postgraduate students	Any student who is currently enrolled as an undergraduate or postgraduate at the University of Exeter and has a supported medical application.	14 February 2023 for the next academic year. Applications are dealt with in date order.	For the next academic year - by 31 March 2023 (formal offers may not be sent out until week commencing 24 April 2023).

Summer accommodation

Applicant Type	Applicant description	When can I apply?*	When will I hear?
Summer Accommodation	Any student who is currently enrolled at the University of Exeter who wishes to apply for accommodation between mid-June and early September.	Applications will open in April 2023 and are dealt with in date order of receipt.	Offers will be sent from late May onwards and if you apply after 1 June it will be sent within 10 working days of the application being submitted, subject to availability.
