How to apply

Apply now for student accommodation

Student accommodation applications for the academic year 2012/13 are now open.

Before you can apply you need to:

  • Know your University of Exeter Student ID Number (a nine digit number beginning with five or six).
  • Have a valid email account/address which you will be able to access after your arrival at university. Do not use your current school/college/University email address as these may become inactive when you leave.
  • Accept an academic offer and make the University of Exeter your firm choice.
  • Read and understand which students are guaranteed accommodation.
  • Search our accommodation options.

Student ID number

This will be quoted in the information sent by the University after you firmly accepted our offer of academic place.

Undergraduates: This is different from your UCAS number.
Returners: This is the number on your University card.

Please add accommodation@exeter.ac.uk and sid@exeter.ac.uk to your safe contacts, particularly if you are using an @hotmail or @live email address, so our emails don’t go to your junk/spam folder.

If you are unable to apply online please contact us.

What happens when your accommodation is allocated?

  1. University owned or managed accommodation – you will receive an email asking you to log onto the website to review the offer.
  2. Nominated accommodation – you will receive information confirming you have been nominated to a residence. You will be contacted by the provider of this accommodation about the contract.

You have seven days to accept or reject your accommodation offer.

If you accept you will need to confirm the contract and pay a deposit to secure the accommodation, otherwise the offer will be withdrawn and the room allocated to another student.

If you are nominated to a residence deposit information will be provided with your offer of accommodation.

If you haven’t arrived we will re-allocate your room from 12 noon on the first Wednesday after the start of term, unless you have agreed a late arrival date in advance.

If you agree a late arrival date and do not arrive on that date we reserve the right to re-allocate your room.

If you arrive late you are still liable for the accommodation charges from the start of the contract.

Undergraduates

If you have Exeter as your insurance or clearing choice, you can apply when your University offer is confirmed. Once it is please apply as soon as possible.

We allocate accommodation after results are received and offers become firm with the University.

Postgraduates

The accommodation process begins for new postgraduates once your course offer has been accepted and, if necessary, a deposit has been paid to secure your academic place.

We will consider your application from May onwards.

Current postgraduates should apply as returning students.
