Once you have completed the MSc you are eligible to apply for a place on the MPhil/PhD programme. Suitable applicants with a recognised Masters qualification (or equivalent) are normally permitted to register immediately for the MPhil/PhD programme. From the MPhil, upgrades to PhD are usually considered after sixteen to seventeen months of full-time postgraduate registration. We take on postgraduate students only in areas where we have an active research involvement.
We work in partnership with a variety of public and private sector organisations to ensure our research has policy relevance and the School holds research grants totalling more than £2.5 million from ESRC, British Academy, Wellcome Trust, the Department of Constitutional Affairs, MRC, Nuffield Foundation and other leading funding bodies. We have state-of-the-art facilities ranging from fMRI, EEG and eye-movement recording to tracking and night sight facilities for recording animal behaviour.
