About this course:

Knowing where to find research funding, developing a research funding idea, formulating it into a great proposal and submitting it to a research funding call is an in depth and complex process, which can seem overwhelming.

Understanding the internal institutional processes a proposal must go through before submission is also a challenge.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Understand why you should consider applying for research funding.

- Identify relevant research funding sources and understand the role of Research Services in supporting applications.

- Comprehend research funding call documents and understand potential application components (Case for Support, Pathway to Impact Statement, Data Management Plan).

- Understand the internal processes for submitting a research funding proposal and the role of the Research and Finance Team (RAFT).

- Make connections between research funding, impact and public engagement.

- Recognise the difference between a good and bad research funding proposal.

- Feel more confident in identifying research funding opportunities and compiling a research funding application.

This course is recommended for Research Staff in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine disciplines.
