About this course:

This practical session is designed to accompany the new online training for leaders and managers Supporting the Mental Wellbeing of Your Team which is available via LearnUpon.

This session will cover the practical skills required to support your team's mental wellbeing and provide an opportunity to explore any anxieties about this aspect of your role.

The session will look at the skills required to hold sensitive conversations about mental health, including empathy and active listening.

It will include completion of a stress risk assessment, designed to identify areas of difficulty for colleagues and the team as a whole, and a follow-up action plan.

It will look at resources and sources of support available to University of Exeter employees and help you to appropriately signpost colleagues.

**Please note that you are required to complete the online course prior to attending this session**

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the session you will feel more confident in:.

- Having sensitive conversations about mental health with colleagues, including managing awkward or challenging moments in the conversation.

- Completing a stress risk assessment with both individual colleagues and the team as a whole.

- Recognising and adopting behaviours associated with compassionate leadership.

- Signposting colleagues to appropriate support when required.

Who should attend this course:

This session is aimed at leaders and managers who have already completed the online course referred to below and would like to develop practical skills in supporting the mental wellbeing of colleagues and the team as a whole.

THE ONLINE TRAINING FOR LEADERS AND LINE-MANAGERS "SUPPORTING THE MENTAL WELLBEING OF YOUR TEAM" MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ATTENDING THIS PRACTICAL SESSION.
