Career Opportunities in the next phase of LSI research
LSI Recruitment 2024
LSI Recruitment 2024
The Living Systems Institute (LSI) is a flagship interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Exeter. The ambition of the Institute is to decode the complexity of living systems across scales, from sub-molecular to organismal, and from microbe to human. Our shared mission is to discover, understand and control the fundamental rules of life.
Launched in 2017, the LSI is a unique blend of physicists, mathematicians, engineers, biologists and biomedical scientists housed in purpose-designed research and collaboration space.
We are now expanding our research programmes through recruitment of roles at different levels and across our three interdisciplinary and cross-cutting themes:
We seek pioneering researchers who, like us, are motivated by scientific discovery and embrace an ethos of excellence, integrity, and collaboration.
We offer two permanent full-time Senior Professor positions in Maths and Physics of Life.
Apply here for: Professor in Mathematics of Life & Professor in Physics of Life
Application deadline: 04th December 2023 at 9:00 (GMT)
In addition to leading your own research team, you will work with the LSI Leadership team to shape the institute's research agenda, attract strategic collaborative funding, grow the global reputation of the Institute, and nurture the next generation of researchers.
We offer three permanent full-time Open Rank Positions from Senior Lecturers to full Professor in Living Systems.
Apply here for: Open Rank Senior Lecturer to Professor
Application deadline: 26th February 2024
Candidates should have a biological or biomedical research focus but we particularly welcome applications from individuals with training in mathematics, physics, engineering, or computational science. Fields of interest include, though are not limited to: stem cells and development; chromatin dynamics; cell state transitions; biomechanics and bioengineering; microbial interactions; molecular dynamics; synthetic biology and protein design.
Life in the LSI
The posts will be based in the LSI’s purpose built research facility with affiliation to the adjacent relevant Departments. LSI sits at the heart of the University of Exeter’s award winning Streatham Campus, alive with green spaces in the beautiful city of Exeter in the UK’s Southwest.
You will be welcomed into the vibrant LSI community of some 200 PhD students, post-doctoral researchers and principal investigators from around the world working in superb laboratories with excellent facilities, and supported by excellent technical and professional services colleagues.
