In a globalised world, graduates with the ability to communicate in more than one language are highly sought after by employers, giving you an edge in the job market. In this dynamic and diverse subject strand, you will take part in language taster sessions in Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish*. In addition to engaging with languages, you will explore past and contemporary cultural issues in areas such as politics, society, identity, visual media, history and literature etc. You will also find out about our Study/Work Abroad programme, Language Centre and how to combine languages with other subjects. The sessions will be taught in a mixture of lectures, seminars and practical group work classes.
*No prior experience or proficiency in any languages is required – you can start a degree in any of our languages from scratch! This subject strand is suitable for both beginners and advanced students.
