For those who have little or no management experience and do not currently manage others.

Aims to provide you with a taste of what it takes to be a manager at the University and develop some basic management skills and knowledge.

The Aspiring Managers Programme (AMP)




For people who supervise teams but who are often not their line managers.

Aims to improve people management and communication skills.

  • Difficult conversations, people and negativity

The Effective Supervisor Programme



For those who have just or are about to become managers for the first time at the University.

Delivered through a range of workshops covering all the essentials. (ILM = workshops can contribute towards an ILM qualification at the level specified).





For those who have 1-3 years practise as a manager.

Aims to consolidate you as a practitioner in a broad range of management topics. (ILM = workshops can contribute towards an ILM qualification at the level specified).

For general managers with 4+ years of experience in a range of management topics.

Aims to introduce leadership topics and provides opportunities to enhance your networks.










You can build an ILM qualification by attending the relevant combination of workshops from our management or leadership programmes and then submitting assessments.

ILM Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills

This qualification is designed to help you boost your performance and help you make the transition from working in a team to managing a team. The learning and assessment combination will help you be more effective and confident in your role.
