A Round Table on Public Engagement: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Colleagues and PGRs are warmly invited to join us for an in-person round-table event bringing together high-profile experts from a range of disciplines to discuss the challenges and benefits of working in the public eye and engaging with mainstream and social media. Discussion will be lively and wide-ranging and cover topics including
- Engaging with broad, non-academic publics (including on radio, TV and online)
- The role of the public intellectual
- Writing ‘trade’ books or journalism from a university setting
- Responding to demands and timelines of commercial publishing/news cycles
- Navigating visibility and the associated vulnerability and risk
- Incentivising and valuing public engagement and dissemination
