His first monograph, Blackpenttecostal Breath, drew from Black Studies, Performance Theory, Sound Studies, Theology and Black Feminist and Queer Theories. It investigated the aesthetics and performances of Black Pentecostalism as liberating, collective social imaginings that disrupt against the violent marginalisation of minoritarian lifeworlds and allow for the emergence of alternative modes of social organisation.
