InSPAration: “Research impact in a digital culture”, (SPA) student PGR conference

We are delighted to announce that the InSPAration conference, organised by PGRs at the University of Exeter is scheduled to take place virtually from 21-22 of October 2021.

A Department of Sociology & Philosophy conference
Date21 - 22 October 2021
PlaceOnline event.

How do you hope your research will inspire others? We welcome PGRs from across SPA to give a 20-minute talk on their research’s impact in industry, academia, society, or on themselves as PGRs.

The current global situation has pushed researchers at every stage of their academic careers – from first year PGRs to experienced professors – to find new platforms to disseminate their work and find new strategies to make an impact. Prior to the conference, a workshop will be offered to presenters which will explore how to use recording and streaming software effectively in an increasingly virtual conference culture. These are skills even seasoned academics are just now developing for the first time, giving PGRs in attendance a head start in academia’s digital ‘new normal.’ With presenters and attendees only from the University of Exeter, this conference aims to offer a supportive, constructive, and inspiring conference experience, ideally suited for PGRS with minimal prior experience of conference-going. Abstracts from first-year PhD students who may wish to discuss the potential impact of their proposed research are therefore encouraged.

With the workshop taking place in the first week of July (tentatively July 4), this will allow presenters to implement what they have learned at the workshop as a trial run in a supportive environment.

To register, please email your abstract with the subject: "InSPAration Conference Abstract" to: ssis-spa-pgrconference@exeter.ac.uk .
