GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) Overview

About this course:

This workshop provides an overview of the GDPR, how this will affect you and gives plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaces the Data Protection Act in May 2018 and all staff need to have an understanding of the impact this will have on them.

This course will only be run in 2017/18 to support the University in its preparations in becoming GDPR with the processing of all personal data.

PLEASE BE AWARE that sessions will be recorded and made available to staff within the University for training needs, if you have any concerns please contact the People Development Team.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Explain the principles of the GDPR and how they may affect you.

- Implement the regulations so that you are compliant in the future.

- Support your area in the GDPR project and ensure personal data is processed legally.

- Ask relevant questions for specific issues that relate to the personal data you deal with.

Who should attend this course:

This course is suitable for any member of staff that processes personal data and wants to know more about the changes they will need to make to be GDPR compliant.

It is useful for those working on any project that uses personal data including research and for those working on the GDPR project.
