You can use Handshake to advertise your vacancies with our students, promote your own events, and connect with Exeter talent - all free of charge.  You can also sign up to our career fairs to boost your profile and meet with our high calibre students.

Handshake is an innovative early career network and career management platform that connects employers, students, graduates and the Careers Service in one place.

Further information

If you haven’t already, you will need to set up your Handshake account and connect with the University of Exeter, to be able to promote vacancies and events and submit your booking form to register for our careers fairs.

If you encounter any difficulties using Handshake, please raise a request for assistance with their team. You can use Handshake’s Digital Assistance or log a request. Just be sure to select ‘employer’ from the options available.

We can help you advertise externally organised careers and employability-related events on our careers portal, Handshake.

Where appropriate (and subject to space), we may also feature your event in our weekly student newsletter, ‘What’s on?’.

Key requirements

  • Submit your request at least two weeks before the event or registration deadline (this allows us to review, approve, and give students enough time to register).
  • Events must be relevant to current students or graduates and align with the subjects we offer.

We cannot promote events that:

  • Are not careers, employability, or recruitment focused
  • Clash or compete with our own activities
  • Require payment or a deposit to attend, or promote chargeable activities
  • Take place off-campus outside the South West region during term time 
  • Provide insufficient detail (unclear description of what the event entails)
  • Are competitions (please use our social media channels instead)
  • Contain errors or inconsistencies
  • Do not meet our Advertising Guidelines, including:
    • Restricting attendance based on protected characteristics (see Guidelines for Positive Action)
    • Requiring attendees to have “the permanent right to work in the UK”

Uploading your event

  • Join Handshake if you haven’t already.
  • Follow this step-by-step guide to upload your event quickly.
  • If your company has active job postings and the event is less than 60 days away, we’ll promote it alongside your job postings once approved.

Stay Updated

To make sure you don’t miss important updates about your listing:

  • Log in to Handshake.
  • Click your name → User Notifications.
  • Under Notification Preferences, check the green ticks for:
    • Events (Email + Notification)
    • Someone comments on an event that I organise
