Scholarship Recipients 2022
Exeter Scholars is supported by a number of generous individuals who have made donations and scholarships available to programme participants who succeed in becoming Exeter Senior Scholars and choose to study at the University of Exeter.
Below you can find information about the recipients of our scholarships for 2022 entry.

The Brian Waghorn Scholarship
Donor: University of Exeter alumnus Mark Waghorn (LLB Law 1988)
Amount: £4000 per year for three years
Awarding criteria: A high-achieving Senior Scholar (including national Pathways to Law and Realising Opportunities participants) who has been identified as living in a low-income neighbourhood (as defined by home postcode) or who has qualified for free school meals or a school bursary at the point of joining the programme
Recipient: Tommy
Tommy completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying BA Modern Languages

Daniel Masters Widening Participation Scholarship
Donor: University of Exeter alumnus Daniel Masters (BSc Physics with Geophysics 1984)
Amount: £4000 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: A high-achieving Senior Scholar who has accepted an offer to study one of the following subjects: BSc Accounting and Finance, BSc Accounting and Business, BSc Economics, BSc Business Economics, BSc Economics with Econometrics, BSc Economics with Finance, BSc Economics with Politics, BSc / MSci Computer Science, BSc / MSci Computer Science and Mathematics, BSc / MSci Data Science, BSc / MSci Mathematics and Data Science
Recipient: Ayoob
Ayoob completed the Exeter Scholars National programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying BSc Accounting and Finance with Year Abroad.
“The scholarship is a huge motivation, which will constantly remind me to work effectively hard.”

The Broad Reach Scholarship
Donor: University of Exeter alumni Bradley Wickens (BA Economics and Agricultural Economics 1994) and Katherine Wickens (BA Geography 1994)
Amount: Three awards of £6000 per year for three years
Awarding criteria: Three high-achieving Senior Scholars who are from a low-income neighbourhood or have qualified for free school meals or a school bursary or have been living in care, and have accepted an offer to study a degree programme related to the following disciplines: Accounting and Finance, Business and Management, Biosciences, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics, Medical Sciences, Medicine, Neuroscience, Natural Sciences, Physics, or Renewable Energy (a full list of accepted degree programmes can be found here)
Recipient: Mohammed
Mohammed completed the Realising Opportunities programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery

Eloise completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying MMath Mathematics.

The David Bouchier Law100 Scholarships
Donor: University of Exeter alumnus David Bouchier (LLB Law 1985)
Amount: Two awards of £4000 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: Two high-achieving Senior Scholars who have accepted an offer to study in the Law School.
Recipient: Emily
Emily completed the Realising Opportunities programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying Dual LLB / Juris Doctor (JD) with the CUHK.

The David Bouchier Law100 Scholarships
Donor: University of Exeter alumnus David Bouchier (LLB Law 1985)
Amount: Two awards of £4000 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: Two high-achieving Senior Scholars who have accepted an offer to study in the Law School
Recipient: Elizabeth
Elizabeth completed the Exeter Scholars South National programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying LLB Law.

The Exeter Scholars Access Award
Donor: Funded by the University of Exeter
Amount: Three awards of £3000 per year for three years
Awarding criteria: A high-achieving Senior Scholar studying at each University of Exeter campus (Streatham, St Luke's, and Penryn) who is from a Black, Asian, or minority ethnicity background
Recipient: Aaditya
Aadtiya completed the Exeter Scholars National programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying MSci Natural Sciences with International Study.
“Just knowing I have a support system in place has eased my mind and will hopefully allow me to jump into different opportunities without any financial worry.”

The Exeter Scholars Access Award
Donor: Funded by the University of Exeter
Amount: Three awards of £3000 per year for three years
Awarding criteria: A high-achieving Senior Scholar studying at each University of Exeter campus (Streatham, St Luke's, and Penryn) who is from a Black, Asian, or minority ethnicity background
Recipient: Fasika
Fasika completed the Exeter Scholars National programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery

The Exeter Scholars Access Award
Donor: Funded by the University of Exeter
Amount: Three awards of £3000 per year for three years
Awarding criteria: A high-achieving Senior Scholar studying at each University of Exeter campus (Streatham, St Luke's, and Penryn) who is from a Black, Asian, or minority ethnicity background
Recipient: Zack
Zack completed the Exeter Scholars National programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying BSc Evolutionary Biology

The Laura Piper Award
Donor: Mrs Dianne & Mr Ric Piper
Amount: £4000 per year for three years
Awarding criteria: The highest achieving Senior Scholar who has completed the Pathways to Law subject activity strand, hosted by the University of Exeter, and has accepted an offer to study with the Law School
Recipient: Elle
Elle completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying LLB Law with European Study.

The Nicholas Cheffings Law100 Scholarship
Donor: Member of University of Exeter Council, Nicholas Cheffings
Amount: £4000 per year for three years
Awarding criteria: A high-achieving Senior Scholar who has accepted an offer to study in the Law School. Preference will be given to a student from a Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic background
Recipient: Suwayda
Suwayda completed the Exeter Scholars National programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying LLB Law.

Law100 Scholarships
Donor: University of Exeter alumni and friends
Amount: Two awards of £4000 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: Two high-achieving Senior Scholars who have accepted an offer to study in the Law School.

Oriana completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying LLB Law with European Study

Law100 Scholarship
Donor: University of Exeter Alumnus Charles Platt (LLB Law 1974)
Amount: £4000 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: A high achieving Senior Scholar who has accepted an offer to study in the Law School.
Recipient: Charlotte
Charlotte completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying LLB Law.

The Peter Baldwin Law100 Scholarship
Donor: University of Exeter alumnus Peter Baldwin (BA History 1991)
Amount: £4000 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: A high-achieving Senior Scholar who has accepted an offer to study in the Law School
Recipient: Chinemerem
Chinemerem completed the Exeter Scholars South National programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying LLB Law.

Law100 Scholarships
Donor: University of Exeter alumni and friends
Amount: Two awards of £4000 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: Two high-achieving Senior Scholars who have accepted an offer to study in the Law School.

Carrie completed the Exeter Scholars National programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying LLB Law.

The Lord Myners of Truro Scholarship
Donor: Various
Amount: £4000 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: The three highest achieving Senior Scholars who are living in Cornwall (one Senior Scholar per academic year (2022, 2023, and 2024)
Recipient: Blake
Blake completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying BSc Criminology

The Resonance Scholarship
Donor: Various
Amount: £3000 per year for three years (four years for MEng programme)
Awarding Criteria: A high-achieving Senior Scholar who is Black or Black British African, Black or Black British Caribbean, other Black background, or an individual who identifies as mixed white and Black Caribbean or mixed white and Black African, and has applied to study a degree in the College of Engineering, Maths, and Physical Sciences at either the Streatham or Penryn campus. A total of three scholarships will be available each year.

David completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying BSc Mathematics.

The Tony Allen Scholarship
Donor: University of Exeter alumnus Tony Allen (BSc Physics 1965)
Amount: Three awards of £1500 per year for three years
Awarding criteria: The three highest achieving Senior Scholars who are living in Devon
Recipient: Ella
Ella completed the Realising Opportunities programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying BA English and Creative Writing.
“It will really help with extra-opportunities for my course and make university life in general more accessible.”

The Tony Allen Scholarship
Donor: University of Exeter alumnus Tony Allen (BSc Physics 1965)
Amount: Three awards of £1500 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: The three highest achieving Senior Scholars who are living in Devon
Recipient: Charmaine
Charmaine completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying BSc Psychology.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the Exeter Scholars programme as it gave me a taste of university life and helped me to fall in love with the campus and university.”

The Tony Allen Scholarship
Donor: University of Exeter alumnus Tony Allen (BSc Physics 1965)
Amount: Three awards of £1500 per year for three years
Awarding Criteria: The three highest achieving Senior Scholars who are living in Devon
Recipient: Olivia
Olivia completed the Exeter Scholars South West programme and is now a first-year undergraduate studying BA Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.
