Module description
This module is a continuation of ARA1031 (Term 1) and aims to further your skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in Turkish at A1 level. The module has the specific aims of developing your knowledge of the fundamental structure of Turkish grammar and language; ability to read elementary texts in Turkish; and capacity to carry on conversations in elementary Turkish understanding of the importance of the Turkish language and civilization in the broader context of Islamic civilization and culture.
The module will be delivered in a student-friendly language and emphasizes using the Turkish language for survival purposes in cases that you might encounter in real life situations. The module can be especially instrumental for interdisciplinary pathways as it may be useful for learning Ottoman Turkish and other Turkey/Turkish related fields including all branches of humanities and social sciences. Being a continuation module, it requires successful completion of ARA1031 or relevant previous basic knowledge of Turkish.

Re-assessment takes place when the summative assessment has not been completed by the original deadline, and the student has been allowed to refer or defer it to a later date (this only happens following certain criteria and is always subject to exam board approval). For obvious reasons, re-assessments cannot be the same as the original assessment and so these alternatives are set. In cases where the form of assessment is the same, the content will nevertheless be different.
