Module description

This module allows you to pursue a portfolio of specialist skills interests in Archaeology. It will be particularly suitable for students who wish to explore skills in more depth than is offered within existing taught modules. You are presented with potential projects by staff but can also devise your own projects subject to approval by a member of staff. These could be to enhance your skills for future research or industry relevant professional skills.  For example, artefact technologies or study techniques, reference collection work, assemblage analysis, fieldwork data projects, digital 3D scanning techniques, GIS, SHArD lab projects, RICHeS facility projects.

Module aims - intentions of the module

To apply the principles of archaeology through reflective practice and to acquire advanced competences in selected study areas. In conjunction with archaeology staff you will define project goals that will enhance your employability and research skills.  These can be chosen from a variety of project opportunities making use of the expertise and facilities in archaeology and the broader professional context.  You may also be able to devise your own research projects subject to approval by a member of staff.  The projects undertaken could be used to enhance your skills for future research and employability.

Deferral – if you miss an assessment for certificated reasons judged acceptable by the Mitigation Committee, you will normally be either deferred in the assessment or an extension may be granted. The mark given for a re-assessment taken as a result of deferral will not be capped and will be treated as it would be if it were your first attempt at the assessment.
