Event details
St Lawrence's Asylum Stories are holding a baking competition - the one requirement is that the entry is in some way inspired by St Lawrence's. All competitors will need to offer a brief description of how their cake relates to the hospital. All entries to be submitted by 11am, judging at 1pm - there will be prizes.
The 'Asylum Stories' project is a joint venture with the Department of History and the Institute of Cornish Studies at the University of Exeter alongside mental health professionals from Cornwall Foundation NHS Trust. This project has seeked to capture and record a written and oral history of St Lawrence's Hospital in Bodmin, the old Bodmin Asylum; studying artefacts and photographs and hosting community engagement events. To date, peoples histories have been archived with CAVA (the Cornwall Audio Visual Archive).
This project has been funded through the Arts Council and Cornwall Council.
Free refreshments will be on offer at all events.
