Tier 4 changes for visa extensions:

Changes to the process for applying for a Tier 4 visa from inside the UK (a ‘visa extension’) have been introduced by the UK Border Agency on 6 April 2013, including increased application fees and an online ‘print-and-send’ application form. If you need to apply for a visa extension in the UK, please refer to the Print-and-Send Application Guide and the Tier 4 Guide below. We strongly recommend that you submit your application through the International Student Support Office. You can book an appointment via the Student Information Desk.

Website under construction:
Note that this website is currently under construction. It will be re-launched by 1 June 2013 with much more detailed information for new Exeter students on applying for visas from home, as well as re-designed information for students applying for visa extensions in the UK. In the meantime, the information in the Tier 4 Guide below is up-to-date.

How to extend your Tier 4 student visa in the UK

As of 6 April 2013, the UK Border Agency expects all Tier 4 applications to be made using an online application form. The current system is called 'Print and Send' and requires that you complete an online application form and submit your payment online using a credit or debit card. You then print your completed application form and submit the form and your original documents to the UK Border Agency. The form and documents must be posted before your visa expires.

The International Student Support Office provides a free visa application check and submission service for all University of Exeter students and we strongly recommend that you use this service. Applications are submitted to the Student Batch Scheme at the UK Border Agency

Please follow the steps below to prepare your application:

Step 1:

Read through the Tier 4 Guide so that you thoroughly understand the rules and the documents that you need to prepare

Step 2:

You now need to complete your application form. Download the Tier 4 Print and Send Application Guide below. This will walk you through the process for registering on the UK Border Agency website and completing the Print and Send application.
