You are warmly invited to a University of Exeter Global Conversation public lecture event on Thursday 12 November 2015 at the American Museum of Natural History, New York.

Global Conversation events offer you the opportunity to hear from Exeter's world-leading researchers, our partners and experts in the field on topics of global importance, including Climate Change, Dementia to Literacy and Disadvantage.

This Global Conversation public lecture entitled “Avoiding Dangerous Climate Change: What is the best thing to do now?” gives you the chance to hear from leading scientists in the fields of Climate Change and Energy Policy. Professor Peter Cox (Professor of Climate System Dynamics) will highlight the major threats and options which the upcoming United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris will consider. Professor Catherine Mitchell (Professor of Energy Policy) will provide an insight into current European energy policy, and Professor Travis Bradford (Associate Professor and Director of the Energy and Environment Concentration at Columbia University) will be exploring the US perspective on energy policy including the New York state’s Reforming the Energy Vision.

There will be an opportunity to ask your questions directly to a panel of experts, including Dr Gavin Schmidt of NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, who will be discussing the topic in depth during a Q&A session, and to network with other guests. There will be time to hear a University update from Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Professor Sir Steve Smith.
