Travel Survey
The annual Travel and Transport Survey is live for 2026!
Each year, the Sustainability team surveys students and staff across our campuses to understand their commuting habits and experiences of transport. Your input helps us understand commuting habits, identify what’s working well and highlight where travel options can be improved.
STUDENTS – be in with a chance of winning one of 7 travel prizes of your choice, including a £65 refurbished bike voucher or a variety of vouchers for local train, bus and bike services!
With around 30,000 students and nearly 6,000 staff travelling in and out of our campuses every week, sustainable travel plays a vital role in reducing congestion, improving air quality and lowering our carbon footprint. The insights you share directly support our goal to reduce commuting-based emissions by 20% by 2030. Already we have:
- Developed the Line 4 bus service to enhance connections between Exeter campuses and St David's station with the new Line 4, with a 270% increase in passengers.
- Begun building bike lockers, drying cabinets and new showers in the Innovation Centre, and more bike shelters for those who cycle to campus.
- Launched the LiftShare app to make it easier to find others to car-share to campus with, saving money as you go.
We’ve already seen positive change: bus use is rising among both staff and students, and more colleagues than ever are choosing to cycle to campus.

The survey is open from 16 February until 16 March 2026.
Student Prize Draw – Terms & Conditions
The promoter is the University of Exeter Sustainability Team, Northcote House, Exeter, EX4 4QJ. The prize draw is open to current University of Exeter students aged 18+. Staff may complete the Travel Survey but are not eligible to win prizes. Entry is free. To enter, students must complete the 2026 Travel Survey in full. Only one entry per person. Entries received after the closing date of 16th March will not be included.
Seven winners will be selected at random after the survey closes. Prizes include: one £65 Ride‑On refurbished bicycle voucher, one £50 Saddles and Paddles voucher, one £50 GWR voucher, and four Greater Exeter 7‑Day Stagecoach Tickets (£26 each). Prizes are non‑exchangeable and non‑transferable. Winners may request a preferred prize, but allocation depends on availability. Participants must provide their University email address at the end of the survey to be in with a chance of winning.
Winners will be contacted via their University email. Personal data will be used only to administer the prize draw, in line with University privacy policies.
Students that participate in our in-person engagement activity will be given the choice of a £3 coffee voucher, or a chance to win the travel vouchers. The coffee incentive is capped at 50 coffees, first come first serve, on campus only.
