Career
After completing my PhD, I held post-doctoral positions at IFR working on various aspects of protein secretion in fungi for industrial processes. I then moved to the University of Nottingham as a Research Fellow working on protein secretion as part of the Fungal Genetics group in the School of Biology, where part of my role was to manage the research laboratories and ancillary facilities of the group. At the end of the fellowship I was accepted on to a Midlands Medici Technology Transfer Fellowship and spent a year pursuing knowledge transfer projects on behalf of various departments within the University of Nottingham and, as part of this, acted as part-time Commercial Operations Manager for a University spin-out company.
More recently I have held positions as School Manager for the School of Biology at Newcastle University and as Operations / Technical Manager for a Newcastle University spin-out company that provides microbiological testing and identification services. My previous roles at the University have been as Operations Manager for the ESI and Technical Operations Manager for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences activities on the Penryn Campus.
