Title: Exploring how nature based approaches can help children and young people.

This poster describes PPIE work which was supported by the Public Engagement Springboard Fund and conducted within the wider context of the CAMHS Goes Wild project, a project supported by PenARC Mental Health Research Initiative (PenMHRI) in collaboration with associate Dr Beth Chapman (Cornwall Partnership Trust). The CAMHS goes wild project explored the benefits of exposure to and connection with nature in the context of specialist mental health services in Cornwall. In this project we evaluated CAMHS staff views and experiences of using nature-based approaches (NBAs) within their clinical work in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust. The PPIE work shown in the poster developed from wanting to build on our understanding of staff views of NBAs with the perspectives of children, young people and their families. We sought to try to understand how CYP felt NBAs might help them and from this to co-design meaningful outcome measures to assess the acceptability and effectiveness of NBAs in this context.

Title: Growing partnerships between English and Tanzanian Schools

I have been inspired to complete research on the development of global partnerships between schools in England and East Africa after my experience as a headteacher who created strong links with settings in the Tanga region of Tanzania.

My initial research has revealed a dichotomy between the rhetoric of British educational policy and the experiences of the children and young people involved in partnerships.

It is my hope that my research will provide support and guidance to facilitate the growth of successful and sustainable partnerships in the future.
