Geography at the University of Exeter offers a lively, thriving and innovative research environment. We offer two distinct taught programmes relevant to 21st century challenges and developed with input from industry, which aim to provide a fantastic platform for future employment.

As a student with us you will be part of a vibrant postgraduate community benefitting from quality teaching and access to outstanding facilities. We offer an intellectually stimulating experience within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our programmes are informed by our research expertise, which is organised into a range of research groups spanning the breadth of Geography.  These include research groups focused on: environment and sustainability, sustainable hydrological systems, just futures, coastal and ocean futures, and energy policy.  We are engaged in a number of interdisciplinary areas of research at the University, including earth system science and climate change research, much of which is organised through the Global Systems Institute (GSI) - a world-leading solutions-focused transdisciplinary centre in climate change research and recipient of The Times Higher Education Award for 'Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership'.

The academics who contribute to the MSc programmes in the Department of Geography undertake their research globally and are deeply involved in research across the Global South.
