Staff IT Equipment

Leaving the University

When you leave the university you must return your IT equipment if you have any of the following:

University owned laptop/macbook/tablet/mobile phone.
Home-based peripherals (such as monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, docking station).

Please log an Easy Vista ticket using the following category:

I Need Something/IT Equipment/Return IT Equipment

You will then be contacted with either a courier link to send equipment back, or the offer of an on-site appointment.

On campus IT equipment including Desktop and peripherals should be left in place.

IMPORTANT: Before returning a mobile phone or tablet, please make sure you follow the guidance here to remove your accounts from the device.  Failure to do this will mean we can no longer use the device and it will have to be disposed of.

When you raise an Easy Vista ticket, a technician will be in contact to help you through the process.  However, you may find it useful to view this information page first so you can be prepared.

Don't worry!  Please state in your Easy Vista ticket the equipment that you need packaging for and we will send some out to you.

As your laptop will be wiped and reset for the next user, there is no need to provide the Bitlocker key.

No, please raise the ticket, but carry on working as normal.  We'll organise the return date for your last day of work at the university.

Leaving the University

When you leave the University permanently you will no longer be entitled to use the University IT resources, unless you apply to become a registered Associate using the "IT Access" links within the Associate Management System.

Before you leave, please check your Library record online for ITEMS CHECKED OUT and return everything listed. Contact library@exeter.ac.uk if you need help.

Your IT access will be disabled from the day after your End Date.

There may be occasions where one fixed term contract finishes and a new one starts the next working day. In this case your IT account will continue to operate normally though there may be different levels of access associated with the new role.

Any gap between contracts will result in IT access being disabled for that period but will be reactivated with the same account details and email history when you start your new role.

If you are retiring, you can request to retain your existing University IT account via the online Associate Management System (Please note that this should be done before you leave).

Once logged in you should click "IT Access","Request New IT Access", and then choose "Staff Retired". Your request will then need to be approved by your College or Service management.

For full details on how to do this please see How to request an Associate IT account.
