This module provides you with key employability skills that will prepare you to apply for employment or future education in your areas of interest. You will be shown the skills required to get through the application process as well as those soft and business skills employers will be expecting. The module has zero credits and is optional, but all second year Physics students will be registered on the module; particularly students taking the Physics with Professional Placement programmes will be expected to engage with the module.
Students taking this module will be expected to:

attend 2 or more CareerZone workshops

attend a 1-1 meeting with a Careers Consultant to discuss their CV and areas of employment

attend the specific sessions scheduled for this module

attend 2 or more extra-curricular EMPS specific employability or alumni events
The aim of this module is to provide you with skills to progress through the rigorous application processes that many employers have, and the ability to market yourself effectively if undertaking speculative approaches to companies. The application process can be competitive and challenging. It is a time consuming activity and you may well encounter setbacks during the process, particularly considering the fact that you will be in competition with other high calibre students. This module is designed to give you resources and support during year 2 to support placement applications.
