A free day of creativity and learning for all the family at the University of Exeter

Fun and learning for all the family at this free drop-in event, based in the Forum on the Streatham Campus. On the day there will be a host of art activities linked to University research themes, including print making, textile art and model-making. A selection of artefacts from Exeter City Football Club archives will be on display and there will also be the chance to see some local archaeological finds. All are welcome to this public event - all children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be free parking in University car parks on the day. During the event, drinks, snacks and meals will be available to buy from a variety of food stalls.

Think...Art is a free day of creativity and learning for all the family in the Forum on the University of Exeter's Streatham Campus.

During the day a host of drop-in art activities will be on offer, including print making, model making, painting and working with textiles.  Discover how a camera obscura works, find out about planets and make models inside a giant cardboard book!  On display will also be memorabilia from Exeter City Football Club.

All the activities will have a connection with key areas of research at the University including Identities and Beliefs, Environment and Sustainability, Functional Materials and more. 

During the event, drinks, snacks and meals will be available to buy from a variety of food stalls.

Everyone is welcome to this free public event which is suitable for all the family.  Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

This event accompanies the exhibition The Observatory: perspectives on landscape, society and spirit, a series of forty artworks inspired by research at the University, created by artists from the South West, which will be on show in the Forum from 11 - 18 June 2017.

  • Make paintings of native insects
  • Help to make a costume out of recycled materials found on beaches
  • Make prints representing how you see yourself in the world and how you like to be seen
  • Make model people out of cardboard in a huge cardboard book sculpture
  • Paint on silk and find out about colours in nature
  • Interactive astrophysics display - find out about how planets work
  • See memorabilia from the Exeter City Football Club and play 'Spot the Ball'
  • Create pictures in a walk-in camera obscura
  • See a display of fascinating photographic images of research at the University
  • Visit the free exhibition The Observatory: perspectives on landscape, society and spirit.
