Overview:
My research addresses clinical questions directly relevant to the management of diabetes, with the aim of directly improving clinical care. I have a particular focus on using routinely available features and tests, combined with using prediction models, to improve diabetes classification and stratify treatment, and the optimal clinical use of biomarker tests in diabetes. I lead clinical studies which currently run across over 50 centres, and work closely with data science colleagues to answer questions using existing research study and electronic healthcare record data. Alongside my UK based research, I co-lead an NIHR funded program of work researching the diagnosis and management of diabetes in Sub-Saharan Africa.
