ESRC Announces Festival of Social Science 2023

We are very pleased to announce that applications are now welcome for events as part of the ESRC’s Festival of Social Science (FoSS) 2023. This year the FoSS will run from 21st October – 17th November 2023.

Applications for up to £1k are welcome from researchers to hold an event during the festival month that promotes social science and brings it to life for a non-academic audience.

The 2023 Festival theme is ‘Lifelong Wellbeing’ and we are aiming for at least 25% of our events to be based on this theme.

The ESRC has chosen this theme in order to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the NHS. so that can include events on the 75th anniversary of the NHS if you wish to, but it is not essential. The theme is linked to the improving health, wellbeing, and social care priority area for ESRC and UKRI.

We encourage you to think broadly around this theme, but it is not essential; we welcome proposals from all social science disciplines across all topic areas likely to be of interest to the target audience.

We also welcome proposals from disciplines outside the social sciences; however, to meet ESRC criteria there must be a social science component/collaborating partner for the event to be eligible.

In the first instance please complete the online application form. , applicant guidance is attached. The deadline for applications is 1st September 2023.

If you have any queries, please contact us at ESRCFestival@exeter.ac.uk. Please share this opportunity amongst your networks.
