Many students will need a part-time or casual job alongside studies to help with the cost of living. These types of roles are also great to have on your CV as they show a wide range of skills. This page outlines the various ways we can help you find and apply for jobs, including resources, events and appointments.

Events

There is a Student Employment Fair on the Streatham campus usually at the start of the Autumn term with employers looking for part time and casual staff. There is a similar event at Penryn campus on 31 January 2024. There is a Summer Recruitment Fair on Streatham campus on 8 May 2024. Visit the Careers Fair page for more information.

Employers looking for part time and casual staff also visit the campus with pop up stands throughout the year. Any employers on campus will be listed on Handshake under events.

Student Employment Week: 4th-7th March 2024. A spotlight on the services and programmes to help you increase your employability, as well as to highlight local employers who regularly offer part-time work to Exeter students.

This guide gives helpful tips for where to look for a part-time job locally, especially useful if you're not familiar with the Truro and Falmouth area. Printed copies are available from Career Zone in Cornwall (ground floor of the Exchange building, Penryn Campus).

Take a look at the ways we can support with common equality and diversity queries on this page. Our Access to Internships scheme can help you to identify potential employers and provide funding to offset the costs of an internship for the employer. There is also a bursary available to help you with the costs of working such as work clothing or commuting. We also provide advice on disclosing a disability to an employer on this page and offer 1 to 1 appointments if you wish to discuss it further.
