We know that finding out an answer to your questions (no matter how small!), settling in quickly once you get here, feeling comfortable and meeting some local students are crucial to getting the most out of your studies here at the University of Exeter and enjoying the UK. Global Chums can help you achieve this.

Global Chums Exeter

Global Chums Exeer

Global Chums Exeter is a mentoring scheme designed to answer questions when you arrive, help you settle into campus life quickly, and provide you with some familiar faces around campus.

How does the scheme work?

  • We pair you with an existing student, often someone who is studying the same (or similar) course wherever possible.
  • Your mentor will email you in your first weeks you to introduce themselves and answer any questions you have.
  • There will be some online and in person events (depending on current restrictions) for you to attend. 
  • Deadline for mentee applications: 19 September 2021
  • Deadline for mentor applications: 16 August 21

Global Chums Cornwall

Global Chums Cornwall is a mentoring scheme designed to answer questions before you arrive, help you settle into campus life quickly, and provide you with some familiar faces around campus.

How does the scheme work?

  • We pair you with an existing student, often someone who is studying the same (or similar) course wherever possible.
  • Your mentor will email you before you arrive to introduce themselves and answer any questions you have.

How do I apply for a mentor?

First year International fee-paying undergraduates

Study abroad/Exchange/Erasmus students

We will automatically allocate you a mentor who will contact you before you arrive, so please check your emails in the month before you are due to commence your studies.

Postgrad students

You can request a mentor by emailing globalchums-cornwall@exeter.ac.uk
