Why did you decide that Exeter was the best place to study your particular subject?

Because of its fantastic academic research reputation.

Describe your typical day at Exeter

I would get up, go the gym, come back home and have breakfast, then head out to the library and study before class. Attend class, sometimes have lunch with other students, study more. In the evening I would attend some sort of social activity, my favourites were the debating club and the outdoors walking societies.

What are the best aspects of studying within your department?

The lectures were interesting and varied.

How would you describe the vibe on campus?

Super friendly and easy going.

What particular skills are you gaining from this experience (personal and professional), will this help you in your choice of career?

Yes, a degree from Exeter has helped me tremendously and has opened many doors. Exeter has a great reputation in the UK and Europe and that has made a difference in my career.

How did you deal with any challenges/ difficulties during your time at the University of Exeter?

I would simply talk to the lecturers and they would be very helpful.

What’s the best thing about living in Exeter?

The safety and beauty of that part of England.

Would you recommend Exeter to your friends?

Of course!

What advice would you give students planning on coming to the University of Exeter?

I would advise them to meet as many people as possible. Study hard of course, but the network you can build there is phenomenal.

Was the University supportive during your time here?

Completely!

What was the impact of the Ayudar Scholarship for you?

It completely transformed my life. Career-wise and also personally, I met my now husband on campus, who was also a student at the time!

What have you done since leaving the University?

I have enjoyed a wider range of positions in research and industry in the UK, Spain and Colombia. I am currently working in the UK.

How did studying at Exeter help with your chosen career/ further study?

It opened many doors due to its excellent reputation and rich alumni network.
