Why did you decide to study at Exeter?

I chose Exeter because as a second year undergraduate I was privileged to meet a past student who recommended the school to me. The desire to attend Exeter then never left me and I was privileged to be offered a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. This really enabled me to study in Exeter.

Why did you pick the course?

After reading through the modules, I saw that as a past student of Actuarial Science it will be a great opportunity to apply my risk analysis to global challenges other than the financial sector. It is a great avenue to widen my scope of knowledge.

How have you found the teaching, research, lecturers, course content

It has been quite challenging because most of the geography terms are very new to me and also it is my first time of having to do lots of reading and research.

So far, my favourite module is Blue Planet. The topics under this module are very practical and interesting. The lecturer is also good at breaking things down to help our understanding.

How have you found the support services and the facilities?

They have been awesome so far especially the Wellbeing Service. Due to my disability, I was facing lot of challenges when I got to campus but after getting in touch with them, they have done everything within their power to make my stay comfortable.

Did you find it okay settling into Exeter / the UK?

My flatmates are very friendly and sociable so it was easy for me to mingle with them. The university booked my flight and paid for my taxi fair from Heathrow airport to Exeter.

What are your top tips for international students thinking about studying in the UK?

Be sure to have sufficient money on you for arrival in the UK. Take your study of the English language seriously. Get plenty of warm clothes!

How well supported have you felt during the COVID-19 pandemic?

I constantly received either emails or calls from the University checking up on me to check if I am alright both physically and mentally. I was fortunate to have groceries delivered to me.

Do you feel your course will enhance your employability?

Yes, I do. It now gives me the opportunity to work as a consultant or with any of the UN organisations.

What are you plans after finishing your course?

I plan to do my PhD right after my Masters and also finish up with my professional course in Accounting.
