Module description

The professional review will synoptically assess knowledge, skills and behaviours as detailed in the Project Manager Assessment Standard . This module forms the second part of the Apprenticeship End Point Assessment and requires the Portfolio to be complete.  This module will give you the opportunity to showcase the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you have gained through your apprenticeship programme and will give you the opportunity to deliver a formal presentation based on your achievement followed by an interview.  Throughout the presentation and interview you will be able to demonstrate how you have developed your project management understanding and capability through a variety of experiences

Module aims - intentions of the module

The professional review provides you with an opportunity to showcase your knowledge skills and behaviours you have developed as a project sponsor/owner for the end-to-end delivery of a project or a subset of a project dependent on the complexity and criticality to the business.  You will be demonstrating how you are able to deliver projects in line with defined objectives, taking decisions to manage stakeholder expectations by leading a multi-skilled, cross-disciplinary team to deliver the project to time, cost and quality requirements. Using your unique knowledge, skills and leadership behaviours project managers will manage the social, legal and environmental implications of your projects. In addition, you will demonstrate how you manage a variety of interfaces with the organisational entities involved in the project.

On successfully completing the module you will be able to...

  • 1. Document and recommend appropriate project management solutions in the areas of project governance, business case development and project justification, communication plans, schedule development, project quality, procurement, risk management and project change control.
  • 2. Investigate innovative project management tools and techniques and evaluates their suitability for use within the context of their project environment.
  • 3. Justify the use of such tools and techniques and supporting the organisation in achieving benefit from using them.

  • 4. Analyse and assess the business context of projects and make recommendations suitable for inclusion in development and maintenance of a robust project business case.
  • 5. Analyse and assess a project business case against recognised standards and guidance.
  • 6. Evaluate and predict project outcomes and identifies opportunity for improvements to the business case.
  • 7. Analyse and assess stakeholder requirements, including recommendations for improvements to stakeholder communication in order to improve project outcomes and facilitate benefits realisation

  • 8. Provide evidence of a leadership role in a project environment with the ability to motivate all team members to achieve project results
  • 9. Recommend appropriate improvements to enhance team performance

  • 11. Evaluate, recommend and implement solutions to complex problems arising in a project environment

Re-assessment notes

Deferral – if you miss an assessment for certificated reasons judged acceptable by the Mitigation Committee, you will normally be either deferred in the assessment or an extension may be granted. The mark given for a re-assessment taken as a result of deferral will not be capped and will be treated as it would be if it were your first attempt at the assessment.

Referral – if you have failed the module overall (ie a final overall module mark of less than 40%) you will be required to sit a further examination. The mark given for a re-assessment taken as a result of referral will count for 100% of the final mark and will be capped at 40%.
