Module description
This second-year module forms part of the 4 Year ‘with work placement’ programmes offered by HaSS, Cornwall to include the Law and Business Programmes with Professional/Industrial Placement, the Politics Programmes with Employment Experience (EE) or Employment Experience Abroad (EEA) and the Humanities Programmes with EE/EEA.
This non-credit bearing module provides you with the opportunity to build on the skills developed in the Preparing for Placements 1 module, to assist you in your job/placement search and to provide a general preparation for successful participation in the workplace. Completion of all sessions is mandatory unless specified as optional.
Module aims - intentions of the module
This non-credit bearing module forms part of the Preparing for Placement training to help students prepare for their placement year that will take place in the third year of their degree. The module aims to support you to research relevant organisations and apply for placement opportunities. Building on HAP1906 you will be taught how to identify your own skills and personal qualities to ‘self-promote’ and stand out in a competitive environment, and to make the most of networking opportunities. The module will also look at professionalism and wellbeing in the workplace, investigating common scenarios that you will face and suitable approaches to them. It will also build in time to apply for placements with support from the placements team

Syllabus plan
Whilst the precise content may vary from year to year, it is envisaged that the syllabus may cover all or some of the following topics
- Welcome back, review of CVs and placement searches
- Identifying and using resources on Career Zone to include assessments centres and interviews Meet the previous placement students
- Supported writing retreats to work on applications
- Resilience and re-energising the Placement search
- Professionalism and wellbeing in the workplace
- Introduction to placement year academic assessments
